The Mobile OS makers are building applications into the base layer of the OS. In particular, Google has been very vocal in their support of NFC, and had a media day around the Google Wallet, which is based on NFC technology, including the embedded Secure Element. Microsoft is also expected to add NFC into Windows Phone 8. Symbian OS based NFC phones have been around since 2007 and other OS makers are also active on the NFC front.

From mobile network operators (MNOs) to financial institutions, app developers, service providers, TSMs, infrastructure providers, retailers, and so on, a lot has happened to create and develop the ecosystem. We, as consumers, can experience NFC in thousands of places around the globe.
